Skydance Bridge connects the north and south portions of Scissortail Park across Interstate 40, turning a piece of pedestrian infrastructure into one of Oklahoma City's clearest civic markers. Its form takes its cue from the scissor-tailed flycatcher: two wings rising above a 380-foot bridge and a 197-foot-tall sculpture visible at city and highway scale.
The bridge is about more than crossing traffic. It marks the meeting of east and west, downtown and the Oklahoma River, and the city's past with a more imaginative future. The idea grew through a deeply collaborative design team, pairing architecture, structure, lighting, public space, and fabrication into a single gesture that changes with the angle, speed, and time of day.
